Create an eBook: Resource Guide
Below are the resources that I recommend in my course on how to create an eBook. I am an affiliate for some of the resources mentioned below, which means that I may receive a commission if you sign up through my links. This is at no extra cost to you and I only recommend products and services that I personally use or have used.
This page is for resources specifically for creating an eBook. You can also visit my main Resources page here.
Writing and Designing Your eBook
Create and Design
Canva is the best resource to find and create images and to design your cover! You can create your entire eBook within Canva, but it works better for smaller or free eBooks.
Keyword Research
Ubersuggest is a great free tool to start with for basic keyword research. There is a free (limited to 3 searches per day) and paid version, so time your searches wisely (or switch browsers).
Grammar Check
Grammarly is the best free tool that I've found for checking grammar and punctuation. You can download the free browser extension for easier use or upload your documents.
Self-Publishing on Amazon + Other Marketplaces
Publishing on Nook (Barnes & Nobles)
Publishing on iBooks
Note: You can’t technically set your book to be “free” on Amazon. In order to make your eBook free for longer than their limited-time promotion period, you must first upload your eBook to another platform (like Nook) and then send an inquiry to KDP customer service and ask them to price match.
eBook Landing Pages
The example landing page that I demonstrated in the course was created with my website theme (see first option below with Astra + Elementor). Every image that you see on the landing page (eBook, sample pages, all images, etc.) was created with Canva.
Note: Regardless of which option below that you choose, make sure that you have a lot of customization over your sales page and checkout experience. A better sales page and checkout experience can convert 10% more people. If that results in 10% more sales, it’s worth paying for better software.
Website Theme
Astra is a great free and customizable theme and also what I designed this website with (Pro version not necessary). Use the free Elementor plugin to customize Astra further and use WooCommerce to enable collection of payments.
Email Marketing Service
ConvertKit is the email marketing service I've been using for years (after trying out multiple others). Their platform is simple and easy to use and allows you to focus on what you do best: creating. It also comes with the ability to sell products.
Landing Page Software
LeadPages is a really great software for creating landing pages for paid products or email lead magnets. It comes with the ability to set up a checkout and collect payments, although it is a paid software. Definitely worth it if it's in your budget!
Survey Software
TypeForm
TypeForm is a great option for sending surveys to your audience to ask for feedback. They have both free and paid plans.
SurveyMonkey
SurveyMonkey is another great option for sending surveys to your audience to ask for feedback. They have both free and paid plans.
